2025-2026 FCC Criterium Season

We’re back with a jam-packed 50 race criterium season and we’re mixing things up a little.

Criterium Fixtures 2025/26 – Footscray Cycling Club

  • Our midweek criteriums are shifting from Thursday evenings to Wednesday. We’ll be continuing the $5 entry fee for weekday criteriums based on the successful trial from last season.
  • After the Christmas break, we’ll be getting you back into racing with a 3 race twilight series, held over three consecutive evenings. Expect warm nights and fast racing.
  • We’re introducing alternate race formats throughout the season to change things up a little.
  • We’ll be setting up a scoreboard for a new and refreshed citerium aggregate, which will be updated weekly. So, you can track your progress and stay motivated and competitive.

The season kicks off this Saturday 4-Oct-2025. See you there!

GSCC Open Layard Park Handicap

We’re taking a short break before the criterium season starts, but if you’re interested in a race, our friends at Geelong & Surf Coast Cycling Club are hosting an open handicap for masters riders (aged 30+) on 26 September 2025 (the Friday before the AFL Grand Final). https://entryboss.cc/races/26368. There’s a $3000 prize pool and a BBQ. Since we know FCC riders love a good handicap race, we’re eager to support and enter FCC riders for this event and will subsidise $20 of the $45 entry fee for the first 10 full FCC members who sign up. If you’d like to race, please let us know here https://forms.office.com/r/XkYNCrKXFq and we’ll get in touch.

The Open race will have a spares vehicle, but B-D may not. If impacted by a genuine mechanical issue the Race Director may, at the Club’s discretion, allow a time to be determined and allow the rider to start the next Stage in order to be classified a finisher.

What about if I am a Race Official or Race Marshal? Racing simply does not happen without all of our wonderful volunteers. For each duty you perform, you will be given a lunch pack, containing a drink, piece of fruit, muffin and a roll. All volunteers for the weekend will also be entered into a draw for a prize!

The T’s & C’s:

  • non-FCC riders will be invited to the Tour, with NO restrictions for the A category, and ‘grading accuracy weightings’ in B, C & D based on your, other and our Club’s observations. It is worth noting that being a C Grade racer at one club does not necessarily translate to C at another club, but our aim is ‘like for like’ graded racing.
  • The Chief Commissaire, Mark Zanatta, will determine MAXIMUM bunch sizes per grade based on safety and resourcing.
  • The Commisaire and Race Director will direct and inform riders that this is EMPHATICALLY NOT a ‘teams’ race, and that any derivation from the spirit of contesting each stage to the best of a rider’s abilities (for example but not limited to, excessive blocking, trying to ‘set up’ or impede another rider, etc) will result in the rider being relegated or disqualified at the Commissaires/Race Director’s/Club’s discretion.
